A useful introduction to Washington's wine country

I know many people who are looking to Washington for new wines and wine-touring prospects and this book makes a good introduction. It gives a broad, but not overwhelming, overview of history, geography, grape varietals, and other useful information. It's great to keep in the glove box of your car when visiting wineries or as a gift for newcomers to Washington wines.

The next big thing in wine...

I was sent a review copy of this handy book and it has opened up a new realm of wine shopping for me! I¿d been hearing about Washington wines but wasn¿t really sure what to look for. This book covers the history and development of Washington¿s wine country, which was really interesting ¿ after all; California was well established by the time I started drinking wine! It also provides fun, quirky tidbits such as a brief history of glass wine bottles, tips on visiting Washington wineries and insider scoop on who¿s making the hottest cult wines. Being somewhat practical however, to me, the best sections are the ones on notable Washington vineyards, explanations of the various types of wine and how their production has occurred in Washington and each vintners¿ specialties. After reading this book, I feel as though I have the inside track on the ¿next big thing¿ in wines. And I¿ve had fun finding, enjoying and being able to recommend new, delicious wines to friends and colleagues.
