Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Dean Smith has just inherited an earldom, but he must marry his rich fiancée if he wants to keep the estate out of his creditors' hands. But someone sets Dean up to be found in the company of Rob, a handsome male prostitute, and the marriage is off. Dean is determined to find out who is against him and recruits Rob to travel to Bath and identify the perpetrator. On the way, the men become friends and soon, Dean finds himself wanting more than friendship. This Regency romance has a light touch, several ghost stories, and an affectionate romance between two equally sympathetic characters. Despite its lurid cover, this novel is less sex-focused than some other titles. — "Bodice Rippers Without the Bodice", Booksmack!, 12/16/10.

    Historical Gay ?Romance

During the carriage ride back to Carwick estate after an unsuccessful attempt to acquire rent monies on his properties the new Earl, Dean Smith was ambushed by a very attractive highway man. The highway man never saw the attack from the Earl coming. When the Magistrate tells the Earl his engagement to the magistrates daughter is called off, Dean convinces the highway man to travel by his side to Bath, and identify the person responsible for the setup. Along the journey the two men begin a friendship of sorts but still hit a few bad patches along the way. Dean tries to come to terms with Rob being a male prostitute, but still can not fathom why a man of his beauty resorted to such an awful means of income. Dean also begins to have dreams of Rob and the love making they could share. Although that will never be an option to Dean, he is engaged still in his mind and has no intention of experiencing the delicious companion he has assisting him. Dean never looked at himself as handsome, but Rob could not find him more attractive. Dean often tries to figure out Rob, but the man has too many secrets hidden with no intention of giving away the answers. One night the two men experience the most incredible nights anyone could imagine, but Dean knows he must find his fiance and there can never be anything with Rob...Or can there? Also a mysterious lady in grey is following the carriage to each destination but why and what do the Earl and Rob have that could keep her on their tails? This book is wonderful to curl up with on a rainy day in your pajama's and an old homemade quilt. It was full of romance, secrecy and an amazing twist. This book is sure to keep you turning the pages and looking forward to the other works by MJ Pearson. Discreet Young Gentleman is a 5 heart read, and I suggest you add it to your library today.

    Good read.

Discreet Young Gentleman by MJ Pearson was a good read. I liked it. It has it's slow moments but what story doesn't? There was excellent character development and you found yourself really starting to become invested in their lives quickly into the read. I won't write a book report giving away the story but simply state that I liked it and I hope you will too.

    A Incredible Love Story

I've alomst every single one of M.J Pearsons books and I wait to hear if there are more coming soon. This was my first M.J book and I found myself having to slow down in the third day of reading it. If you love romance, secerts and truths revealed(and a hot male prostitute with a thing for freckled red heads) then this is a must read for you.

    It's got it all.

Just finished reading Discreet Young Gentleman and loved the story which was delightfully different, fast-paced and funny, not your run-of-the-mill romance. I quickly became intrigued by the main characters, Rob and Dean (self-identified as handicapped, or should one say 'challenged'), so well- developed, and appealing. And especially the well-researched historical background that the author's colorful descriptions and wonderful humor makes so interesting. Don't miss this one - it's a treasure of a read.
