Overview

There's a particular fondness on my part for DISNEY BABIES: LULLABY, because it's the main album I used to accompany my baby daughter (now 11) to dreamland. Sung by a handful of skilled studio vocalists, DISNEY BABIES: LULLABY does what the best sleepytime records should do: It lulls. Its collection of traditional airs ("Brahms' Lullaby," "Hush Little Baby") and Disney standards ("Baby Mine," "When You Wish upon a Star") are familiar and soothing. It's (mostly) blessedly free of the vocal histrionics that some of the would-be Celine Dions who perform in these sorts of albums are seemingly compelled to throw in. Favorite tracks include a transcendent "All the Pretty Little Horses" and the completely adorable "Countin' Sheep," both sung by Blossom Dearie-esque Paige Morehead.
