Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Phyllis Kennemer
Recipes from around the world are featured in four categories. The Bonjour Breakfasts section contains C'est Magnifique Quiche from France, Morning Fiesta Mini Frittatas from Spain, Jammin' Jammy Scones from Scotland, Snappy Gingerbread Waffles from Belgium, Streusel-rific Coffee Cake from Germany and Fruity and Nutty Muesli from Switzerland. Lickety-Split Lunch recipes come from Canada, India, Greece, Cuba, China, Thailand, and Senegal. The seven Delizioso Dinners include spaghetti and meatballs, chicken stew, and shepherd's pie. Only one recipe is attributed to the United States—Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie in the Dreamy Desserts section. Within the directions for most recipes, the child is told to ask for an adult's help in preparation. None are simple enough for young children to concoct on their own. Each recipe is accompanied by an attractive photograph and images of Disney's Small World Children appear throughout. Fun Facts mention other favorite foods without recipes or pictures. A donation from the sale of each book is given to FEED to help provide Vitamin A supplements to malnourished children. Reviewer: Phyllis Kennemer, Ph.D.
