Children's Literature - Lisa Colozza Cocca
What's a girl to do when she is stuck in a castle with a beast? In Belle's case, she chooses to explore the castle and solve an old mystery. This chapter book, part of the "Disney Princess" series, is sure to appeal to young Disney fans. When Belle discovers the last chapter of a book is missing, she is determined to find it. With the help of Lumiere, the candlestick, Chip, the teacup, and Cogsworth, the clock, she learns about the history of the book. Then the group sets out to follow a set of clues that will lead them to the final chapter. The clues are clearly presented and identified as clues, making it easy for readers to play detective along with the characters. In the end, Belle and the crew invite Beast to solve the mystery with them. Numerous illustrations help break up the text over the ninety pages. Young mystery fans will enjoy solving the riddle clues before the characters do. Reviewer: Lisa Colozza Cocca
