Overview

After countless collections of songs by current Disney pop stars, the studio finally throws fans of vintage Disney a bone with Disney's Happiest Celebration on Earth, a collection of the music from Disneyland's attractions. Beginning with Walt Disney's dedication speech for the park's opening in 1955, the album captures Disneyland's joyous, and occasionally kitschy, appeal. The album functions as a virtual tour through the park's different areas, with "Alexander's Ragtime Band" representing Main Street, U.S.A.'s Coke Corner, and the gleefully goofy "Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room" introducing Adventureland. New Orleans Square plays host to two of Disney's Happiest Celebration on Earth's best tracks, "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)" from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and "Grim, Grinning Ghosts" from the Haunted Mansion. Several other popular rides and attractions are represented, and while the music from "Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin" and "Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters" works well, older themes like the spooky exotica that soundtracks "Rainbow Caverns" and the dark, thrilling "Space Mountain" music have much more character. Likewise, "Space Mountain (New Daytime Track)" and LeAnn Rimes' version of Disneyland's 50th anniversary song, "Remember When," fall a bit flat. Still, there's so much childhood nostalgia on Disney's Happiest Celebration on Earth that -- despite a few small quibbles -- it can't help but live up to its name.

This is a musical tour of all the Disney theme parks. All the songs you know from every attraction are here in their original versions, and they are all well-performed("It's A Small World" is the highlight). The sound quality is very good, and the accompanying booklet is beautiful. If you haven't yet visited the parks, this album will make you want to go.If you have,it will bring back many memories.A delight from start to finish.

My kids and I have really enjoyed listening to this cd driving around town! My kids don't know yet but we are going back to Disney in December, and for my 5yr old son he has really enjoyed hearing the music again to some of his favorite rides. For my 2yr old daughter I purchased this cd in the hopes that it will help her be familiar and not scared of certain rides like Pirates of the Carribean and the Haunted Mansion.(She was just a baby on our last vacation) She has enjoyed the cd so much with her brother that she loves the pirate song and, dresses up in her brothers pirate clothes, and sings Yo-Ho Yo-Ho a Pirates Life For Me! She also gets excited when she sees pictures of the ride on tv or in books! She is singing the Haunted Mansion song as well! Oh and of course the Tiki Tiki Tiki room too! I really think this cd is a great way to help your kids get into the spirit for an upcoming Disney vacation or to re-live your memories when you get home!
