Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Amy McMillan
Diva is convinced she is destined for greatness and while the other animals on the farm have nothing but derisive remarks to counter her forecasts for her future she is not to be deterred. She continues to dream and when the farmer hosts a dance party Diva makes her move. She dances, she DJs, and she becomes an overnight sensation among her farm mates and on the internet. She leaves the pond and travels the world with her now-friends in tow as her personal stylists and crew and keeps on dreaming. Questions at the end prompt the reader to think back on the story and uncover their own dreams. While a decent little tale of believing in yourself, the portrayal of her "friends" is a bit too one-dimensional and may relay unintended messages. Stick with Jamie Lee Curtis's I'm Gonna Like Me or Patty Lovell's Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon or pair the books for some needed flesh and balance. Reviewer: Amy McMillan
