Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
Vibrant photographs provide an aquatic exploration; PW praised the ``remarkable, even spectacular viewing'' of this ``kaleidoscopic underwater treat.'' Ages 7-11. (Jan.)
School Library Journal
Gr 2-4 Large full-color photographs take up most of each page, with the accompanying brief text printed in a large typeface. The authors take children on a shallow dive and a deep dive off two coral reefs in the Caribbean Sea. Pictures of various animal and plant life on the reef are included. The clear, vibrant photos make this a beautiful book. Unfortunately, the photos are not captioned, and occasionally it is difficult to tell which part of the text relates to the picture. There is no glossary or index. Despite these drawbacks, this is a lovely book, particularly when used in conjunction with Lili Ronai's Coral (Crowell, 1976; o.p.). Jacobson's Wonders of Coral and Coral Reefs (Dodd, 1979) is more difficult. This book is based on a filmstrip by the New England Aquarium. Kathleen Hall, Las Virgenes Unified School, Westlake Village, Calif.
