Overview

Strategies for making differences in work teams an asset, not a liability are provided in this practical guide. Team members are helped to understand and make the most of their differences and to overcome barriers to achievement that are sometimes the result of diversity. More than 50 worksheets provide teams, team leaders, trainers, and consultants with processes, guidance, and tools to learn how to diversify groups while building relationships. An appendix provides an annotated list of resources, including books, training activities, and videos that are helpful in developing group members and training team leaders.

Showing how to manage many differences inherent to today's teams, this book provides an analysis of the primary dimensions of diversity and how they shape expectations and team behavior; guidelines for building relationships across diversity lines; and key tips for resolving conflicts, solving problems and making decisions as a highly diverse group.

    Two Thumbs Up...Way Up!

Gardenswartz and Rowe have hit another home run. I must say this book provides a quick read to various strategies for leaders and managers to grasp the changing demographics of America and to make changes now. I am somewhat biased because Lee and Anita trained me on the finer points of diversity from a non-minority perspective almost ten years ago. While I am African-American, I find they are not only accurate but relevant with their approach. They are the best in the business and I am proud they continue to provide the readers and human resource practitioners current, fresh and exciting ways to help uplift America. Their coaching enabled me to be recognized as one of the United States JAYCEES Ten Outstanding Young Americans for 2003! Thanks Lee and Thanks Anita!
