    Could Have Been Better....

The format with colorful illustrations is definitely eye-catching,the text information is satisfactory unfortunately, the ability to identify certain accoutrements and equipment falls way short. For example, the author erroneously identifyies an M16/203 rifle/grenade-launcher 'combo' as just 'an M-16 rifle'. Anyone not familiar at all with the Vietnam War would be under the impression that this unique weapon was issued to ALL U.S. troops as a standard rifle! I' m not very knowledgeable in military science, but I do know that this weapon was issued to one specially-trained man per squad or platoon (pretty much the same way as a light machine gun or squad automatic rifle was issued,i.e.). Another error was calling an old Russian Mosin-Nagant M44 carbine of WW-II vintage an SKS carbine, the latter designed years after World War II ended. The biggest one of them all was identifying an F-105 Wild Weasel as an F-100 Super Sabre!..Need I go on??? Before putting a book on the market, authors covering these historical subjects should perform pain-staking, meticulous research. To discover such errors places the integrity of the book , author(s)and maybe even the publisher in question, and feels like 'a let down'. Luckily, the rest of the book compensates pretty much with dates and historical information right on target, supplemented by excellent color and b&w photography.
