I always get a DK Eyewitness series book before I travel to a new country. They are the best of the guidebooks, generally speaking. However, this one, about Berlin, is sloppily done. On one page, it says that a certain airport is closed and on the next page, it tells you how to get there and what their hours of operation are. The whole book seems like it was done piecemeal, with no editing. The usual format for DK Eyewitness is to give the name of the attraction first in the native language, and then in English directly underneath. I would estimate that only 25% of the attraction names have an English translation. Also, heeding the caveat of a previous reviewer, I checked some of the info about opening and closing times, admission costs, etc, and found many mistakes. Very disappointing!!! So, thia is an okay book to have ahead of time to figure out what you want to do and see while you are there, but do not depend on it when you are in-country, or you will miss a lot. Shame on you, DK!!!!!

An excellent choice for anyone wanting to learn about the history of Berlin. As a travel guide it is superb. The detailed maps can help you find out where you would like to stay while in the city. The clear photos and descriptions leave nothing to be desired. I heartily recommend this DK title.
