My husband and I love to travel and the first books we reach for when planning a trip are those in the Eyewitness Travel Guides Series. What sets these apart from Fodor's, Frommer's and others is the photography. Being able to physically see the sites the book references helps us to determine whether to visit the site (when time is precious, you want to make good decisions up front) and makes it easier to find the place when we arrive at our general destination. The books also contain street maps, currency and cultural information, and other helpful items. Using this book as a reference, we've noted some spectacular must-sees in Vancouver, B.C., Seattle and Portland for our upcoming trip to the Pacific Northwest.

In true DK style, this book does not disappoint. Three sections - Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia - clearly, succinctly, and practically lay out a wide variety of information (i.e. sites to see, lodging, dining, shopping, weather) related to each locale, as well as highlighting one major city per locale. Definitely a must-have book for a novice traveler or long-time-ago traveler to this region!
