    I Also Recommend:

Good book to get your ideas started...

I got this book because I am planning a trip to Ireland. I was mainly attracted to it because I liked to have pictures of the places they were showing. However, they do not go in depth with the places they are describing. The reader must do that on their own.

The book is a great starter to get your ideas flowing. After scanning through it I was able to pick the parts of Ireland I was interested in, and the particular "tourist" sights I wanted to see.

One thing I wish this book did have was just specific places that are big with the native people. You can only see so many tourist attractions, and this is all the book consisted of.

Beautiful and sturdy to throw in a backpack

I studied this book every day that we were in Ireland. It has just enough information to give the highlights of tons of sights, without having to make a huge commitment to reading lots of boring details. Picture are lovely.

These Eyewitness travel books are nicely made, feel nice, and stay nice even when they're abused in the bottom of a backpack.

Great photos & diagrams; but a heavy book to pack along

A very heavy book for a paperback. A friend recommended it and I enjoyed the photos and diagrams of castles, etc. I had purchased Friendly Planet series book on a relatives recommendation but did not take it to Ireland because it seemed overwhelming and I did not know our itinerary. Another person on the trip had Rick Steve's guide and I will look for that series next time I travel for pleasure.
My brother-in-law, a native Dubliner, loved this book, however. So it just depends on what kind of guide you are looking for. Get a cup of coffee and take time to look over several guide books before buying one.

    more from this reviewer

I love Eyewitness Travel Books and Ireland is no exception

These books are always the best. Eye candy for the soul. If you can't go there, you can at least get an Eyewitness travel guide. I always travel with an Eyewitness book and Rick Steves when they are both available.

    Great guide book!!

My wife and I were recommended this book by our travel agent. I read every word and she looked at the pictures. We were both able to go through and determine what we wanted to see while on vacation. There is a lot of information, but can be skimmed if in a hurry.

    Best guide for touring Ireland!

Making 3rd trip to Ireland and lost first book I had. But, wouldn't think of going without buying a replacement. Sections the country and shows thru pictures and narrative the best places to see. Also provides phone numbers and websites to make reservations, etc. Lists costs and what is free; hours of operation and days closed so you can adequately plan your time and money.
