YAA book that promotes the idea of strong minds and bodies in an appealing manner. Each page has colorful illustrations, charts, and large print. The straightforward presentation is devoid of New Age jargon and will lead readers to an appreciation and comprehension of this ancient art. Five main principles of yoga based on the tenet of "simple living and high thinking" are introduced. Each one is explained and illustrated in a separate section of the book. The chapter on proper exercise is the longest section and goes through a complete workout session with full-color photographs and drawings of each position. The mental and physical benefits of each position are listed as well as possible problems, and variations for different skill levels.     Simple, yet comprehensive.

    I've learned much since I bought this book, enough that I've nearly 'outgrown' it. Yet when I need to view a form, or glean a healthy and elegant recipe, this is the book I always return to.<p> Little touches like the covers extending into flaps on the inside that allow you to prop the book open to the page you¿re viewing really help round out this informative and pleasurable publication.<p> However, I do have one complaint and one criticism:<p> My complaint is lodged with the photographic images. The cropping paths are poorly constructed and cause the images to have flat edges and pieces missing in some cases. For example, the woman on the cover image has a flattish head and part of her big toe is missing. These flaws are not so bad as to render the images useless, just enough to mar an otherwise exemplary production.<p> My criticism is a lack of resources listed in the book. I didn¿t even consider this until I found 'Forbes Best of The Web, June 25, 2001' ¿ Vol. 167, Num. 15, Page 86. There are only seven links to web sites listed, but the information on those sites opened the doors to a plethoric wealth of knowledge on the subject.<p> I reviewed several books (both on-line and off) before making my purchase. This has an excellent quality to price ratio that makes this one of my most treasured books on the subject of Yoga. I recommend it to anyone seeking initiation into yoga, its practices, and it¿s mores.<br>

    Clear, Concise, and Very Helpful

    Yoga Mind and Body is an easy to use guide to yoga for beginner through advanced students. Full color, well explained poses are easy to follow and have modifications for all levels. Included are sections on breathing and the yogic diet. This is a book I return to again and again as my practice improves.
