Daisuke Niwu, the 14-year-old hero of D. N. Angel, knows he's having a bad day when Risa, the girl he likes, gives him back his love letter. Now whenever Daisuke thinks about Risa, he transforms into the infamous art thief, Dark. Dark is at least three years older than Daisuke, has different-colored hair, and enjoys spending his free time dodging bumbling cops and stealing invaluable art treasures with Wiz, his shape-changing rabbit. In other words, Dark is a real pain in the neck. Daisuke's mother tells him that it's a family thing-all the male members of the family become Dark when they turn 14, and the only way Daisuke can rid himself of Dark is by having his first love, Risa, reciprocate his feelings and become his girlfriend. This is plainly impossible; whenever Daisuke sees Risa, he transforms into Dark, and it's off to the museum to steal another priceless art treasure. Dark, by the way, is in love with Risa's twin sister, Riku, and transforms into Daisuke whenever he sees her. This is very suitable for junior high schoolers. The first volume doesn't contain any bad language, nudity or graphic violence; the scariest scene is when Dark steals a kiss from Riku. I must admit that I was a bit confused as to several plot points, and I still don't understand why when Daisuke transforms into Dark, sometimes he's still Daisuke, and sometimes Dark's personality takes over. Hopefully, future volumes will answer these questions. Recommended for libraries with manga collections. KLIATT Codes: J—Recommended for junior high school students. 1997, Tokyopop, 200p. illus., Ages 12 to 15.

This is one of the most romantic graphic novels I have ever read in my entire life. I's funny, romantic, and most of all has hot guys. I mean, what's not to love?

DNAngel is by far, one of the best mangas I've ever read. The rich, detailed story line makes one so indulged that once you start reading, you won't put the book down until you read the last page. The cast for DNAngel is also, very detailed. Every person in DNAngel was lovable in their own way. Such as the hunky Dark Mousy, the 'ladies man' of DNAngel. This story had great elements of romance as well. I find that you can't help but want the lovable Riku Harada end up with the 'playboy' Dark Mousy. You also can't help to laugh out loud with some of the comic scenes in DNAngel. In conclusion, I find that DNAngel is a must have for any manga reader, or if you just love a good book, with a great plot and an awesome cast.

I really like DNAngel, although it's not my favorite series, it's up there. It's a great series for action and romance. :3 If you really liked this book, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne is a must read. [I've read it all in Japanese] Actually, KKJ inspired DNAngel or something, but I don't know. It's very much a like though.

I recomend Sugisaki's graphic novel D.N.Angel. The historical detail is extrodinarily acurate. The many plot lines provides a great sense of excitment for the reader. The character design is beautiful. The confused but cute Daiske, the hott but hillarious Dark are a great combination. You get a sense of home, adventure, love, and sadness for the characters. It pulls you in and wont let you go. -Shinma Nekuru

While I love D.N. Angel, this volume is rather boring. However, the last chapter was extremely interesting and was the best chapter in the volume. 'N' is for Ninshiki was a bit of a boring story. Otherall, this volume's just setting the scene. However, it's recommended that you read it or the story might get pretty confusing.
