With a rapier wit and a sharp eye for the absurdity of the human condition, this hilarious novel holds its focus on the issues and struggles common to every family

When Trebbo's dad Minty bursts into song in response to Frank Wilson's classic "Do I Love You" on a fried chicken advert on TV, he triggers a disastrous chain of events. In showing Trebbo's girlfriend Tiffany the "very athletic" style of dancing that was allegedly once his forte, he lands himself straight in hospital. Here his enthusiasm for the dance scene is rekindled when a young nurse, Kylie, invites him to an anniversary all-nighter at Fanny's nightclub—and he starts to assemble his old soul mates together. Meanwhile teenage Trebbo is chased around town after a bad skunk deal made with "gangsta," Blubber-T—and health-visitor mom, Hazel, struggles to keep the family together. Tired of mopping up after her husband's absurd mishaps, it's no wonder she seeks comfort in her own obsessions—or that there's a new man in her life.
