Overview

At the age of twenty-two, Ben Davis weighed over 360 pounds. Depressed, addicted to food, and morbidly obese, he thought he’d lost all hope. But after a conversation with his grandmother, Ben promised himself that he would finally take control of his life.

Ben decided to “do life,” and so can you.

He started running. At first, he couldn’t run a mile, but before long he was running five, ten, and then twenty miles at a time. His father and brother joined him, and as a team they ran a marathon and went on to complete one of the hardest physical competitions in the world, the Ironman.

Throughout his journey, Ben captured his transformation in a series of YouTube videos, inspiring countless others around the world to “do life” along with him. Here, Ben shares more of his personal story and illustrates how you can use his techniques to start living your own life to the fullest.

Do Life isn’t just about diet or exercise, depression or addiction—it’s about stepping out of your ordinary life and becoming who you want to be. It’s the story of one man who decided to live life his way. And it could be your story too.

This book is inspiring, simple and to the point. Even though his journey is about running I caught myself relating his stories to other areas of my life. The author has a great way of telling his stories and relating them to a lesson in life that we can all learn from. They say in life that sometimes some of the best lessons that we learn are the ones that we learn from other people, rather than our own. There are many times where I can relate to the author and the different feelings of regret and sadness he talks about in the book, as I think we all can. Ben makes it feel like you can overcome any challenge in your life if you just quit talking about it and get out there and "do life". Thanks for the great book and some inspiration to get me out of my rut!! Of course the current 2013 new year's weight loss challenge will help a little bit too I'm sure! :)

I laughed and cried my way through this incredible book! Ben is an extremely amazing individual that is very inspiring. I found his blog in 2010 and can't explain how much he has helped me change my life. Because of him I got the courage up to run a marathon and it was an amazing experience like no other. After reading this book he makes me feel that I could do an ironman! He explains all of the things that create the problems like depression and obesity all the things that I have struggled with my whole life and makes me feel like I am not alone on this journey. You will not regret purchasing this inspiring book!

What an incredible and awe inspiring book! Ben is my new hero as he has motivated me (and many others) to just DO LIFE. The book includes stories of how Ben, his dad and brother went from being beginning runners to Ironmen. I cried as they were announced at the end of that race. The book also includes training schedules for all the races that the three men did. So motivating.

I was so excited to get this book in the mail! I found Ben's blog after purchasing a Runner's World magazine from Barnes and Noble back in 2011. Guess who was on the cover? BEN! I read the article, checked out his video on YouTube and started reading his blog. Ben's story is so relatable. I was moved to tears after watching his video. He has made mistakes that many of us are all guilty of in our lives. He doesn't try to cover it up and pretend to be someone he is not. His book is written from a realistic perspective that many can relate to. The training guides are great for someone who is looking to become more active. The interspersed stories from his blog readers make you see how big of an inspiration he has been for countless people around the country and the world! Great job Ben!!!

I just finished reading Ben's "Do Life" book. I loved it so much! I found this book to be very honest and forthright. It wasn’t like Ben decided I am going to run and make my life better, he told of his ongoing struggles with food and how he deals with it. I am almost 50 year old man who is 50 pounds overweight, sound kinda ironic? I have jogged some, but never done any races. I loved his training guides, once I get over the flu I have I am going get back to jogging. Hearing Ben’s story helped me a lot and gives me a different perspective on my weight. Excellent book and I would recommend it to everyone! Thanks Ben for being so honest.
