Children's Literature
Children can make a difference in community development and in quality of life. They can be volunteers making their city a better place to live. They can do something for others and make a difference. A number of examples demonstrate how in this rather brief book. The text is short and to the point. Vocabulary that may be difficult is explained in the glossary. This book, like others in the Sand Castle "Do Something About It" series, attempts to fill the need for beginning social studies material. The book is easily-handled by young children. The good photos and large print are quite nice. It should be purchased, along with the others in the series, for all libraries. 2004, ABDO Publishing Company, Ages 5 to 8.—Naomi Butler
