“When summer falls, the Lord of Winter will arise...”

In the seaside village of Watchcombe, young Kate is determined to make the most of her last week of summer holiday. But when she discovers a mysterious painting entitled ‘The Lord of Winter’ in a charity shop, it leads her on an adventure she never could have planned. Kate soon realises the old seacape, painted long ago by an eccentric local artist, is actually a puzzle. And with the help of some bizarre new acquaintances – including a museum curator's magical cat, a miserable neighbour, and a lonely boy – she plans on solving it.

And then, one morning Kate wakes up to a world changed forever. For the Lord of Winter is coming – and Kate has a very important decision to make.

This is a short story about a brave, headstrong little girl, named Kate, who saves the world with a little help from "The Curator", but fans should recognize who he really is and hear The Eleventh Doctor's voice when they read his dialogue.  And, yes, the end of Chapter 10 and beginning of Chapter 11 has a sad part in it, as Clara warned the boy about in the TV series season opener in which this book appeared. The "author" of this book is supposed to be "Amelia Williams", aka Amy Pond, who was sent to the past by a Weeping Angel.  The book was supposedly written in 1954.  It's funny, because the book alludes to pocket cameras and cell phones and at one point says the 1950s aren't so bad.  :-)

Amelia Williams put many images into my that wrte amazing. Even though I know she did not write this book for real I could totally picture her in a room writing a book. Any one who liked DW should get this book to understand the warning Clara gives to that kid when she is babysitting.

Short and sweet wiith some clever turns of phrases and a lovely protagonist. It's easy to hear Amy

When i first saw the author's name on the cover it felt like amy was still trying to communicate with the doctor even now. I was in denial about amy getting sent back in time and i felt sad when i found out that the doctor couldn't go & get her and rory but who knows we may see her again any thing can happen in the world of Doctor Who

If you're a Doctor Who fan (or not!) this is a fun short story. It's so magical, just like some of the episodes of the show. I could picture the doctor as one of the main character. I could also imagine Amy Pond writing this.

WE NEED THIS BOOK IN HARD COPY, LIKE NOW.   The library I work at, ( In a very small, rural town in Illinois, USA) Has more than a few Teen girls who are every bit the Whovian that I, (The Kid's & Teen's librarian) am. They would completely lose their heads if I were able to offer this book. WHY IS THIS BOOK (and the Melody Malone book(S) Not available in hard copy?!   Esp, with the 50th anniversary just seconds away?? Auughh!!!  Like I said: it's a small library in a very small town, we don't have the capability, or the money, to be able to offer E-Books to our patrons,  but having these books in Hard Copy would make several people very happy.  Pass that along to the powers that be, will you? :D

I bought this because it was on Doctor Who but I ended up really enjoying it!

I think this book was made more for whovians, than for an actual story. The plot's a tad bit boring. Though chapter eleven is a bit sad, it's not super deppressing or anything. Overall, it was a decent book.<br>Though the foreward is aimed at Whovians, the story isn't. And, the "Curator" isn't actually the Doctor. Doesn't use the same type of language as the Doctors. Plus, it was written by Amy, she never met the Curator of the Undergallery (From "The Day of the Doctor"), therefore, the "Curator" being the Doctor, is highly unlikely.<br>If you're a di<_>ehard Whovian, you should buy it, for the simple fact that it's a Doctor Who product. If you're not a Whovian, I wouldn't really recommend it unless you like books like, "The Magic Tree House."<p>Just a heads up, "The Angel's Kiss" (The Melody Malone Doctor Who book), is a completely different story from the episode "The Angels Take Manhatten." It doesn't mention Rory or the Doctor, or even River breaking her wrist.<p>~Doctor Whovian

I got the free sample, read it, then bought it, but it tells me that the book is still a sample. That really stinks because I was looking forwards to reading it.
