This is one of my favorite Doctor Who books for two reasons. As expected in every Doctor Who story, there is a scene where the Doctor is in peril, yet avidly enjoying the sensations he is getting from his surroundings. This is classic Who and I have many times pondered his attitude and tried to copy it for myself. The second reason is that, all through the series with the companion Martha, I often felt her mistreated by the Doctor, however, in this book, when she is hurt, his normal reserve toward her slips and we see what he really feels toward her.
