Detailed biographies of the 11 actors who have played the Time Lord, including the latest, Matt Smith

Doctor Who is the world's longest-running science fiction television series, and the role of the Time Lord has been a career landmark for all 11 actors who have played him. Few roles in television history are as iconic, demanding, or as anticipated by its legion of fans as that of the famous time traveler with two hearts. This compendium of facts about the men behind the role reveals to fans who was a bouncer for the Rolling Stones before taking control of the Tardis, who was nearly blown up in World War II aboard HMS Hood, who had a fondness for wooly hats and a grandson who would become Harry Potter's nemesis, and who played a transvestite barmaid before becoming a Who heart-throb. All these bizarre facts are expained, and many more, as the lives and careers of each Doctor—including the youngest and most recent incarnation, Matt Smith—are put under the spotlight and given the credit they so richly deserve. Including interviews with many of the stars, this is a must-have for any fan.

    A wonderful Doctor Who refrence

If you want to learn more about each of the doctors and actors then you've come to the perfect book. The book has great detail. I also think there needs to be a book of all of the enemies of the Doctor.

    Love Dr Who

Real Whovians know that the Doctor regenerates to a new person. Real Whovians adapt. Lay off of Matt Smith and get over that fact that David Tenant is not coming back as Dr Who. Real Whovians move on

    Move on

Rember the past doctors, anticipate the next, love every second. I have a metal door in my room that leads to anther area i call "The Door 2.0" it has funny little comics and pictures of old canceled thing or stuff forgotten. I have pics of David, cartoon comics with the fourth doctor and K-9, and some Beatles things. Once a doctor moves on they get their on little area on the door. I have a very busy door but i love waking up and laughing as read the small comics while brushing my teeth and things. So just move on and love it all. The book is very good for proper whovians.

    Whovians, RPs, Among Other Things

Whovians, calm down. We have our prefrences but we dont need to go slamming other peoples'. I think David Tennant was the best Doctor, but every single one has brought new life to the show. And damning the ones you may not have liked is extremely rude. Doctor Who's willingness to change, to vary, has kpt it real. (And yes, it is a rather brilliant way to keep the show going, when an actor decides to leave.) But the possibility of what the next will be is intriging. This aspect truely makes Doctor Who REAL.
((OOC: RPers- do your RPs online. And put more effort into it or quit. Every single nook RP I've seen SUCKS, no offence, but you guys are awful. Its embarasing.))

A real WHOSE WHO of Dr. Who

This is a great read and for those fellow American's a word about the book. Craig Cabell is writing this for a British audience and unless you're a 66 year old American Whovian, like myself, who loves British films and television you may be a bit lost in translation. Don't let that worry you as these mini-bio's are terrific and packed with tid bits. Like which Dr. Who actor had a child who appeared in an episode years later with another actor playing Dr. Who and married him, or which Golden Globe, BAFTA and Oscar nominated actor had to become a construction worker to support himself before becoming the longest running Dr. Who to date.
