Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jennie DeGenaro
Sandy Donovan discusses seventeen different topics in this book that separates fact from fiction. Items were researched and the testing of certain topics makes this book an interesting read while learning which stories are just oldwives tales. Donovan explains the answers to questions such as "can you fry an egg on the sidewalk?" and "can water boiled in a microwave suddenly explode?" Some illustrations are humorous drawings while others are real images that help to keep this book interesting as well as easy to understand. There are five books in the "Is that a Fact" series which answer questions readers want to know. Other books in the series answer questions about animals, the environment, health, and space. Helpful to readers are the glossary, the source notes, the bibliography, and the further reading sections. This book is packed full of interesting facts that tell the reader whether stories are fact or fiction. Reviewer: Jennie DeGenaro
