Dog Days

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
This is a great book about dogs with much information, beautiful pictures, and nice coverage across the dog world. It has bold printed words that may be difficult or not regular vocabulary for most children. Everything is covered from "Who Is Your Dog," "You and Your Dog," "Animal Almanac," "Words to Know," "Where to Learn More" and the index. One could learn a great deal about dogs including having fun, important dogs and record-breakers. The pictures are great. There is a tremendous amount of factual material presented in an interesting way. Additional sections include "Fun Facts," "Record Breakers," "Important Dates," and "Important Dogs." The problem is that the format of the book lends itself to younger children and so it might be overlooked by the upper elementary grades. With the help of a good library media specialist or teacher this problem will be solved. This book is part of the "Pet's Point of View" series. 2005, Compass Point Books, Ages 8 to 12.
