Dog Tales: Hundreds of Heartwarming, Face-Licking, Tail-Wagging Tales About Dogsby Hundreds of Heads Books
- LendMe LendMe™ Learn More
Like their human friends, dogs come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Some are smart, like Ma-Buku, a five-pound Chihuahua who squeaks her toy in perfect time with her owners drums. Some refuse to adhere to dog clichés, like four-year-old Elmer, who loves to chase a tennis ball but refuses to pick it up and bring it back, or six-year-old Barnabas, who can’t be bothered to chase cats but will bark vehemently at the wind. There are pretty dogs, heroic dogs, and dogs that are loyal, intuitive, or just plain strange, like Bocci, who goes into a trance when his owner’s pager goes off, and can only be "reset" by being picked up and put back down again. All make an appearance in this delightful collection of stories. Submitted by hundreds of real dog owners, these true tales of mutual love and loyalty affirm that there’s no better friend than a dog.

What could have been a very good book about dogs fell short due to the poor editing. Bits of stories about a particular dog were scattered throughout the book. Very poor spacing between and within each so-called story. Hard to tell where one ended and another one started. The book would have been much better if each dogs complete story was told at once so that you could follow the history of that dog. Pictures and captions were inserted here and there and did not always line up with the story being told. These dog tales were obviously submitted by individual owners. A dog tale may only be one or two sentences long. Entire book was a little over 120 pages. Much of the entire text was taken up by explaining who the owner was and the names and ages of all the dogs they owned rather than actual stories. Was disappointed with this one.
