Perhaps one day Dr. Morris will be appreciated by scientists and lay person's alike for his keen and careful observations. A true lover of animals who is capable of applying bona-fide scientific observation with this love. The book gives us an intimate and eye opening look at 'man's best friend.' In it he explains dog behavior, a dog's instinctual reactions, history of the dog in man's life, as well as insight into dog's interaction with his human pack mate. Any Morris book is well worth the read. However, if you have a dog or are considering bringing a dog home as companion, this book will give you excellent information on the whys and wherefores of this ultimate human companion. Note that it is not a training aid and it is not an instruction book on rearing a family pet. However, if you are curious as to your pet's behavior this book will give you nearly all the information you need to 'decode' and understand your pet's reactions.
