Are you tired of living by other people's standards and rules? Are you ready for more ease, play, and joy in your life? If you answered yes to either of these questions, Doing Less and Having More is for you. Six years ago, as president of her own marketing and media agency, Marcia Wieder was running a multimillion-dollar business. She owned a little red sports car and a great condo and had fun friends. She was living a dream lifein someone else's dream. When had "more" become "too much"? How could she do work she loved and be less driven? Marcia's search for answers led to the end of her business, a move west, a new career -- even a new love. Now she lectures worldwide on helping people achieve their dreams. She works less and plays more. And her life and relationships reflect her powerful sense of ease. In Doing Less and Having More, Marcia Wieder reveals her simple five-step Roadmap to Ease, with dozens of inspiring stories of people who have achieved their dream of doing less and having more. She also shares wisdom from interviews with John Gray, Mark Victor Hansen, Julia Cameron, Jon Kabat-Zinn, and others whom Marcia calls "Ease Masters," addressing ease in relationships, business, spirituality, creativity, parenting, and more. In Doing Less and Having More, you will learn to: * Take immediate steps to feel more at ease during stressful times * Create a life that reflects your passions and energizes you * Effortlessly get others enthused and able to help * Feel more confidence, joy, and optimism each day -- and much more. "Doing less is not about doing nothing," Marcia writes. "It is about center and balance. It is about choice and freedom. And it is about ease." This book helps you achieve exactly that.

I have the privilege of traveling around the world speaking about dreams, hopes, and goals. In my audiences there are always many people who have dreams and some who don't. But they all seem to share a common concern: For many of us, life has become overwhelming. We have no time or energy to pursue our dreams, or perhaps even to know what our dreams are.
In this crazy world where life has become so overscheduled, overcomplicated, and often overcritical, it's no surprise that many of us often feel defeated, or at least dazed and confused. We wake up in the morning, rush around doing all the things we need to do, come home depleted, and pass out exhausted. Then we wake up the next morning and begin the process again.
How did this happen? What happened to our hopes and our desires? What happened to the kind of life you imagined you would live? What happened to your dreams?
And what about the ultimate dream? Can you imagine a life in which you actually do less and have more? Some people are talking about it, yet for many it's still a foreign concept. At first this may sound contradictory. Perhaps it sounds improbable or even impossible. But it is possible, and it's not all that difficult.
I will show you how to transform your life. You can get rid of many of the things (including people and situations) that don't support you. You can learn to say no and choose when to say yes. You can have free or leisure time and improve the quality of your life.
You can also begin to remember your dreams and actually have the time to pursue them. You can feel strong and healthy, as well as relaxed and calm. You can have more composure andcompetence. You can live life more fully.
What does it mean to you to have more? Exactly what do you want more of? Do you even know? These questions require you to schedule a short date with yourself for the purpose of exploring what really matters to you and what you are willing to do about it. The Irish political activist Bernadette Devlin reminds us, "To gain that which is worth having, it may be necessary to lose everything else." I know this takes unbounded courage and strength. Just remember, life is short. Live it your way.
If you could create your life the way you want it, actually live by your standards, exactly what would you want more of? How about starting with some of the essential basics? Would you like more time, more joy, more ease? How about some added extras: more money, romance, travel, friends, fun?
For some, having more is about material stuff. Not only is there nothing wrong with wanting a new car or home, or with taking a vacation, but you are empowered by deciding what you want.
Perhaps you have plenty of material wealth--maybe even more stuff than you need or want. Your "having more" list may actually turn into your "having less" list, as you purge and clear out the clutter.
Too much of anything can be burdensome. Excess weight, whether it be in the form of pounds, people, or worrisome thoughts, can be a drain. Are you aware of where you are being weighed down or overwhelmed? Can you feel where you are being pushed and pulled? Where has "more" become too much? Whether you want more or less material property, this book will ask you to look beyond that. We'll tap into your heart's desires and discover what has real meaning to you.
I once shared a cab home from the airport with an attorney. In his late fifties, he appeared to be successful, but he looked awfully tired. The cabdriver asked me what I did for a living. When I told him I teach how to make dreams come true, he felt compelled to share a little of his life with us.
"Twenty years ago I was fast-tracking up the corporate ladder, when I decided to quit my job and drive a cab. Why? Because life's too short to have stress and structure. The thought of continually doing more of the same made me nuts. In the last twenty years I've acted in a few feature films, written two screenplays, and traveled to every continent in the world. I work when I want to, for as long as I want to. I feel totally free, and I love my life."
I looked over at the attorney and asked what he was thinking. He said, "I've spent a lifetime working my tail off. I have a wonderful family who I hardly see, and great toys that I have no time to play with. I think I need to take a little break and revisit my priorities. But I'm nervous that if I don't keep this pace up, my family will suffer. It's just that if I keep going like this, I know I will have far greater regrets."
Beware of old programming that might immediately surface to squelch your creative process. Are you already starting to feel selfish or guilty? Does even the possibility of a life filled with more of what you want bring up doubts, fears, and concerns? We will deal with those sabotaging thoughts and behaviors in detail in this book. I will help you become acutely aware of them and remove them. They will no longer stop you.
Here's one thing I know for sure: If you create a dream or a goal that you are more committed to than your reality--which includes your worries and doubts--and if you do something to move your dream forward every day or even weekly, you will transform your life.
