Overview

Life is hard. Other students have felt it too. Learn what they did.

Have you ever felt you couldn't possibly be normal because your life was so hard? Do you sometimes think that no one knows what it's like to deal with the stuff that you're dealing with? These 30 devotions are written by Christian students who've been there and gone through the stuff you and your friends face each day. Better yet, they have come out on the other side-a little wiser, knowing God more and ready to share with you the lessons they learned.

These stories will encourage you, challenge you and inspire you to "do life" with God on a daily basis. Each devotion has questions for you to discuss in a small group plus a journal exercise for you to use as you seek to meet with God daily.

Introduction

*Jenna has taken a stand against drinking. How does God help her stay strong?

*Steve's worried about his future. How does he remember that God has a perfect plan for his life?

*Christy's friend is pregnant and considering an abortion. How does Christy support her friend during this crisis?

*Connor's dad is an alcoholic. How has Connor handled a difficult home life?

You'll find out exactly how Jenna, Steve, Christy, and Connor handled these real-life situations because their stories (and twenty-six other student stories) are included in this book. The guys and girls who contributed to this book face many of the same challenges you do as a Christian teenager. They understand how hard it can be to fit in, make choices that honor God, get along with parents and siblings, and grow spiritually. Sometimes you may feel as if you're all alone in trying to figure out life, but be encouraged and know that you are not alone!

How to Use This Devotional

You may have read devotionals that are organized by specific dates. You turn to the devotion for a particular day, hoping for words of encouragement. But what if that devotion doesn't apply at all to what you're dealing with at that moment? It can be discouraging and cause you to lose interest.

The devotions in this book are organized in four main sections. You can find issues that you or a friend may be facing and read about other students who went through similar situations. Or you can choose your own daily devotion to encourage and remind you of God's love and awesome power. Each devotion is written to help you learn life lessons through the choices (some good, some bad) made by other Christian students.

Here are four main sections in Doing Life With God 2:

*Private Life-the private areas in your life that challenge and strengthen your character

*Spiritual Life-doing life with God and growing in your faith

*Home Life-relating to family members in ways that honor God

*Social Life-the issues you face with peers

Each devotion includes the following elements:

*A Student's Story-a story about God working in a student's life

*What God Taught Me-powerful lessons God taught the student and key Bible verses for you to study

*Write Your Story-a chance for you to reflect on your own story and write your thoughts through a journal exercise

*Talk to God-a suggested prayer you can use to talk to God

*Talk With Friends-three questions related to the story for you to discuss with a few friends or in a small-group setting

Connecting with God by reading a devotion each day will deepen your personal relationship with him and give you wisdom and strength to face each day.

As you read this book, you may feel that you have a story that needs to be told. Well, if that's the case, send it in or e-mail it! The addresses are in the back of the book on page 95. It would be great to read your story and hear how God is at work in your life.

My prayer is that these devotions will give you hope, inspiration, and encouragement to keep you strong with God every day. Remember, being a Christian is awesome, and other Christian students around the world face similar situations. You aren't alone-keep fighting the good fight, dream big for God, and be a difference-maker today.
