Editorial Reviews

USA Today
New, raw, gut-twisting and gripping. Easily the hottest drama this season.
Wall Street Journal
Bold, brilliant and alive.
Time
A thunderclap of an evening that takes your breath away.
Associated Press
The stuff of Broadway legend.
From the Publisher
"Meyer's translations of Ibsen are a major fact in one's general sense of post-war drama. Their vital pace, their unforced insistence on the poetic centre of Ibsen's genius, have beaten academic versions from the field."—The New Statesman

“A powerful statement of [Ibsen’s] radical beliefs about gender, the folly of idealism and the nature of modern love.”—Evening Standard

Meet the Author

Only Shakespeare's plays are performed more frequently than those of Henrik Ibsen (1828–1906). The Norwegian playwright, theater director, and poet scandalized many of his contemporaries as he led the theater into the modern era by exploring the realities behind 19th-century social conventions.

Ibsen is one of the greats, but requires a bit of a disconnect from our modern notion of drama. Very wordy and monolog ridden, but very good insights and ideas.

    Enjoyed it and its message.

A lot fo strong gender view points regarding women's role in society. Glad Nora had that epiphany towards the end.

    A DOLL'S HOUSE

Is about human rights more than women rights. Nora is protraited as weak but really she strong enough to walk out on Torvald

    Good formatting, easy to read

Good formatting for a play, makes the work easier to read. I'm not fond of the play itself, but this is a good copy.

    Good Going

I think that that play was very, very good! I read it in my english class and I never wanted to have to stop reading it to go home! I got so wrapped up in Torvald not getting that letter and thinking about what he would do if he found it! I also think that Nora did a good job of stalling him opening the letter box! I think that she should've left him sooner though because from the beginning of the movie I could tell that he didn't even love her that much at all and that he made it obvious!
