Originally identified as "A Science I Can Read Book," this is a story about a young bottlenosed dolphin from birth to one year. The scientific name is Tursiops truncatus. Bottlenosed dolphins are found along the Atlantic coasts of North America and Europe. The page that tells about the dolphin's birth does show a picture of the baby coming out of its mother's stomach, but there is no detailed description, and it is nothing that children would not see when pets or farm animals give birth. And there is not even any mention of how dolphins supposedly evolved millions of years ago from land mammals who in turn evolved from some other kind of ancestor millions of years before that. How refreshing! According to Barnes and Noble's website, this book has been reprinted the original publisher, now HarperCollins Children's Books, in 1983 as an "I Can Read Book, Level 3" for ages 5-8 and is still available.
