Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marcie Flinchum Atkins
Teachers of upper elementary students need this book in their classroom and in the school or public library. The focus of this book is teaching students what plagiarism is, why it is important not to plagiarize, and how they can avoid plagiarism when they write reports. The chapters are short and include plenty of visuals and headings that break up the text. Copyright laws, where to begin your research, where to get sources, and how to cite them, taking notes, the writing process, and getting permission for use of media materials is all covered in this thorough reference. The back matter also includes chapter notes, a glossary, and index, a place to look for further reading, and websites for research. This book would probably not be a book an elementary student would read on their own, but is a great resource for use in the classroom, at home with parents, or in a library.
