In the eighth book in R.L. Stein's "Mostly Ghostly" series, Max and his ghost friends, Nicky and Tara, battle the evil Inkweed. Through a simple accident, Inkweed, the Ghost of Black Sleep, has taken over Max's body. The likeable narrator is forced to stay awake for several days, or Inkweed will put him to sleep forever. The trio meticulously researches how to put Inkweed to rest while Max battles coughing spells of inky congestion and ink leaks from his body. Nicky and Tara keep Max from closing his eyes through a boring assembly and they help him survive swim tryouts while they all try various methods to shoo the ghost away. The town's ghost expert advises Max to visit "the darkest place on the darkest night," so they head to a cavern on a moonless night. In the end, it is a simple home remedy that cures Max and lets him get some shuteye. The short chapters and fast-paced plot keep the pages turning and will keep the eyes of young readers open, but kids will be happy to get a good night's rest after reading Max's tale. 2006, Delacorte Press/Bantam Doubleday Dell, Ages 9 to 12.

    Awesome awesome awesome.

    You have to read this book even if you difn't like any of the other books. Toilet paper killing a ghoast. It was awesome!!!!!!!!!!

    Spooky!

    Another great Goosebumps book. Spooky, a really good book to read, especially with Halloween coming up!
