Editorial Reviews

Sue-Ellen Beauregard
Professional tennis dinosaur Connors teams up with noted sports-medicine authority Gordon in this "life-style friendly" fitness guide aimed at middle-aged readers. Connors, despite a reputation for brashness, comes across as a surprisingly likable guy who just wants to help his fans lead healthier life-styles. Plenty of fitness concepts, advice, and information, plus an explanation of the "Connors Count" (a point system that gives credit for daily exercise and activities), precedes two 16-week workout plans. Both workout programs require daily strengthening exercises, but except for cursory advice to "get someone qualified to carefully instruct you in the correct way to use free weights," no specifics are included. Despite the gimmick of the "Connors Count" system, the workout plan is not particularly motivating. Nevertheless, with the popular, 40-year-old athlete's name on the cover, this should find a ready audience, even if it is a rather average addition to fitness literature.
