Overview

Maintain the Marshmallow Principle-with this follow-up to the international bestseller!

Everyone's favorite stumbling striver returns in another simple and telling parable from acclaimed motivational expert Joachim de Posada. Arthur has been practicing the principles of success, but after he accepts a lucrative new job, he finds himself reverting to his old gobbling habits. Perfect for anyone in transition, this book explains how to apply the principles of success to changing circumstances. In our go-go culture, "wait" has become the most offensive of four-letter words, but patience is not the same as self-sacrifice, and holding out for something you really want is far more satisfying than settling for whatever is available. Don't Gobble the Marshmallow...Ever! teaches the importance of lifelong non-nibbling-and promises sweet rewards.

Get Back on Track and Instantly Motivated!

I graduated last June with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology wanting to do nothing but take a year off and travel the world. Well, I did end up taking a year off (literally! I can't remember a single productive thing I did all year long!) but my plans of travelling fell short when I discovered how nice it was to stay home and veg out in front of the TV... I ended up gaining 15 pounds and losing all previous aspirations of helping people... Two months ago I randomly wound up in Barnes and Noble with a friend of mine, both of us so bored we had nothing better to do than roam the aisles. I must admit I was really starting to hate the new me... and when I accidently stumbled upon a book with 'marshmallow' in the title, I had to pick it up! I ended up not putting it down. I sat in one of the big fluffy Barnes and Noble chairs and read it all the way through as my friend flipped through magazines. Then I bought the book and read it again. And again! In just 2 months, I am already back to my normal weight, applying to Grad school and interning at a Women's Shelter, along with being mentored by a renowned psychologist. This book not only got me back on track and gave me my life back, but I can now see my future! And it is brighter than I would have ever imagined!

    A reviewer

I have long been a fan of the first book, Don't Eat the Marshmallow...Yet! My teenage son would mock me incessantly, that I had lost weight, increased my income and started a healthy relationship... all because of marshmallows! Little did he know that soon I would be telling him 'I told you so!' and he would be even more geeked up on the marshmallow theory than his mother! My son started his freshman year at Harvard with a bright outlook combined with stellar grades and dreams of becoming a lawyer. But after only 3 months, he had started talking about dropping out of school and living off of his recently acquired inheritance! He was sleeping until 2pm and staying out all night drinking and (although I wish I hadn't found out!) spending all his new money on lap dances. My son had lost his way in the biggest of ways, and I was terrified for him, until I presented him with this book, Don't Gobble the Marshmallow... Ever! At first he was resistant, but after much nudging, he ended up finishing the book all in one day. And he is not only back to being a studious student, but is even interning at a law firm and talking about saving his money to one day help him open his own firm! I wish I could take the authors out to dinner to thank them for saving my son and for motivating him to keep working toward his dreams! I think this book is specially geared toward students... or really anyone in transition... and I couldn't recommend it more! A+++++++++++++++
