Miles Davis lets the creative side of his soul free on the CD Doo Bop. Each track contains the slick sounds of the city and the chill tunes of Mile's trumpet. I give Doo Bop a groovin 5 stars.

It's unfortunate that in his final album, Miles once again opens the doors to the sounds that he was surrounded by. Doo-Bop is a defining album in a pristine career. Still criticized by some, it's truely a trademark album. Miles himself is up to his old form, and in some ways is reminiscent of his early works with Gil Evans. His trumpet work is extremly soulfull, even though draped in the heavy urban sounds. Miles was a man who truely wanted to stay in the ears of the young. He suceeds, blending both hip hop, and blues into a style that, had he had a few more years to develope, could easily be embraced by the young people of today. This is truely a must own for any Miles Davis admirer who understands the value he placed on never standing still.

If On the Corner suggested hip-hop beats as far back as two decades ago, then consider Doo-Bop as offspring. Miles' teaming with producer Easy Mo Bee is a natural -- more in league with England's acid jazz scene than anything in the trumpeter's recent canon. Those who've howled over the post-Bitches Brew work will find no solace here; instead, chalk this up as one of Miles' most entertaining efforts.
