Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Join Dora and Boots on a super-special Easter egg hunt! In this colorful picture book, Dora's mami and papi have hidden 12 eggs (with prizes inside) for them to find. The two pals go exploring and find eggs on Duck Pond's lily pads, a sleepy sloth's tummy, under animals at the farm, and lots of other places. But they're also busy keeping away Swiper! Readers are challenged to match the prizes with their eggs, along with pronouncing Spanish words in a front-of-the-book glossary. Without a doubt, Dora makes Easter truly excelente.
Children's Literature
Dora and her monkey friend, Boots, are looking for 12 special eggs on an Easter egg hunt. She asks young readers to help them locate the eggs, which have prizes inside of them. "Map" instructs the explorers to hunt for the eggs by the duck pond, the farm and at Grandma's house. On each page- spread there are questions directed to children. These include simple counting exercises, matching games, and other developmentally appropriate activities. There are also a few Spanish words sprinkled in the text, most notably the numbers 1 through 12. Dora is cute as a button and many children will recognize her from her Nick Jr. television series. The text does not flow as smoothly as it should, but the colorful illustrations and character identification will please young Dora fans. This title is one in the publisher's "Dora the Explorer" series. 2003, Simon Spotlight/Simon & Schuster, Pettenati

    Ok...

I can be more creative with the reading. So its not worth paying $10 for the read to me option. The Elephants Child is a better read for the little ones to do on their own!!

    3 yr old using nook

My 3 yr old picks up my nook, knows how to turn it on and goes to her shelf of 'read to me' books. She knows how to turn the pages and enjoys hearing the stories over and over. Thank you, nook.

    Not worth it

The main flaw with ebook is that two pages appear at once. This makes the pages appear very small in the center of the iPad with large blank sections at the top and bottom. The text is very small. On the read to me feature, the reader reads two pages as if the are one with reduces the Childs ability to interact. Dora will say "count" the eggs, and before the child starts counting, the reader is reading the next page.

Delightful book but with a flaw.

This book follows very closely on the interaction of the DVDs which my kids love. We found the eggs and matched them and followed the path and looked in Backpack, all familiar from the videos. My one big complaint with this book is that the audio kept going after asking some questions. My kids were left puzzled as they tried to answer the questions and found out the narrator was still talking and asking more questions from the next panel. If the pages had been broken up more, to break up the narrator more, this would not have been an issue.

    Daughter had to have!

I don't know who likes my nook color more- myself or my 3 year old daughter! She saw this Dora one and had to have it. It was a cute story about finding Easter eggs.

    Daughter enjoys it

This is a cute story. My daughter loves Dora and loves the book. My only complaint is that it takes getting used to hearing another voice read the story. I don't know why but I guess I was expecting the Dora voice (I should have known better) and when I heard someone else's voice say, "Come on, Vamonos!" it was a little weird, but my daughter didn't seem to mind. :)

    Waste of money

I'm disgusted by how lame this book is! The narrator's voice is annoying and there's no music or any interactive fun! SO disapointed!! I would give this negative stars if I could.

Great little book - illustrations are wonderful

My 2-year old granddaughter loves this book; Dora is her favorite character. The illustrations are wonderful. I think, however, it would have been better had the outloud reading been in Dora's voice rather than an adult's. But my granddaughter watches it on my Nook everytime she comes over and it keeps her mesmerized for quite some time. Well worth the investment!

Not up to standards for Dora

We were disappointed in this book because it didn't contain Dora's voice. It was an adult woman's voice and my three year old grand daughter lost interest.
