Overview

Know when to show your hand…and when to hedge your bets.

Special Delivery, Book 2

Randy Jensen can’t stand to just sit by and watch as a mysterious man throws money away on the roulette wheel, especially since Randy’s got his own bet going as to the reason this guy is making every play like it’s his last day on earth. The man’s dark desperation hits Randy right in the gut. Half of him warns that getting involved is a sucker’s bet, and the other half scrambles for a reason—any reason—to save the man’s soul.

Ethan Ellison has no idea what he’s going to do with himself once his last dollar is gone—until Randy whirls into his life with a heart-stealing smile and a poker player’s gaze that sees too much.

Randy draws Ethan into a series of wagers that leads to a scorching kiss by midnight, but he isn’t the only one with an interest in Ethan’s vulnerability. Soon they’re both taking risks that not only play fast and loose with the law, but with the biggest prize of all: their hearts.

This book has been previously published and has been revised from its original release.

Warning: This story contains high-stakes poker, gangsters with a weakness for kittens, foursomes, and kinky consensual sex.

Editorial Reviews

Jessewave - Lily Reviewer
Double Blind is a very well written book and one that ultimately I really enjoyed reading. The plot is intriguing and exciting, it's fast paced and has many different subplots that all worked well within the main storyline.

    Had some problems

The start was great, wonderful concept. The rest of the story was still good. Here is where i struggled. It was way too girly. Almost as if we are diving into the therapist way to " fix or help" each person. Part of what im looking for in fiction is a story that brings hot and romance without a deep psych indepth search. Im looking for.entertainment....not a psych eval. I also dont understand the authors deep analysis of the concept of BDSM. Sounds like hype or what they mean to them, not necessarly what it means to others. Its hard to become personally involved with the story if im not buying the meaning. Everyone is super emotional in a 48 hr window. As wonderful as it sounds...hard to enjoy as a possible fiction story.

I enjoyed the previous book ALOT. Which gave me the reason to pre- order this book. I was ok with the content, but not wow'd. Sorry. Wish we never met a therapist, love of cats borders on gross.(and i love cats) and the extra exploration of feelings felt overblown.
It wasnt horrible, just many times i wanted.to put the book down and never pick it back up, not what i desire in a book. I am constantly looking for a book that makes me think, makes me explore my thoughts and feelings...but still be entertaining and fun. So, too many times i stopped reading. I thought an author wanted.to create to make you never wanting to put it down.

    Great book!

Loved this story- complex, interesting, great love story. Enjoyed the characters and all the action. Highly recommend this book but you need to read the one before it so you will understand the story better. The sex was also fun to read about. Heidi has written some great books!

Great Seeing Randy in A New Light

Wow Ms. Cullinan created another great hit. Double Blind is a sequel to Special Delivery which I also loved. This book lets us catch up on old friends and make new ones. Double Blind focuses mainly on Mitch and Sam's friend Randy. The action starts with the very first chapter when Randy is captivated by "Roulette Man" while watching the security feed. "Roulette Man" turns out to be Ethan a man who appears to be at the end of his rope. For reason's even Randy can't explain to himself he seems to not always be able to read this guy as easily he usually does. Like Special Delivery you are never sure what is really behind the thoughts and actions of the characters as they move through the story. While there doesn't seem to be the same dark angst of the first story with a bit of Vegas magic and a gangster through in for local color double Blind is full of mystery and intrigue. Like Special Delivery when you finished the journey and end up at the end of the story the surprise and unexpected twist is wonderful fun. The best part was seeing Randy who was just so much the player in Special Delivery develop into such a interesting character with tons of depth.

While I think you would miss some of the insight into Sam, Mitch, and Randy's relationship if you did not read Special Delivery first it is possible to read Double Blind as a stand along book.

I'm so glad this is the book my M/M Secret Santa sent me. It was a great read.
