SNAPPY, WISE-CRACKING AND FAST PACED...

"A smart, snappy writer who hits your funny bone!" - Janet Evanovich

It's Davis Way's first slot-tournament season. And it may be her last.

Things are dicey at work. A personal assistant goes missing, a little old lady goes on a suspicious winning streak, and a Bellissimo executive goes gaga for Davis. She follows a disappearing slot-tournament player trail to the So Help Me God Pentecostal Church in Beehive, Alabama, then jumps headlong into a high stakes holy scandal.

She's on a losing streak at home, too. Her days, nights, and dinners run together, as Davis juggles a revolving door of uninvited guests, namely her rotten ex-ex-husband, Eddie Crawford. And Bradley Cole thinks three's a crowd.

The worst? Davis doesn't feel so hot. Maybe it's the banana pudding, or maybe it's a little bundle of something else.

DOUBLE DIP. A reckless ride in the fast lane, and Davis Way can't find the brakes.

Praise for DOUBLE DIP:

"A smart, snappy writer who hits your funny bone!" - Janet Evanovich

"Snappy, wise-cracking, and fast-paced." - Mary Marks, New York Journal of Books

"Hilarious, action-packed, with a touch of home-sweet-home and a ton of glitz and glam. I'm booking my next vacation at the Bellissimo!" - Susan M. Boyer, USA Today Bestselling Author of the Liz Talbot Mystery Series

Slot tournament season at the Bellissimo Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Miss., provides the backdrop for Archer's enjoyable sequel to Double Whammy. Davis Way, who's a member of the resort's undercover security team, and her "stunningly pretty" partner, Fantasy, are ordered by their bald boss (aka No Hair) to investigate a 74-year-old woman who has signed up for every slot machine event through the summer. That she gives her home address as a church in Alabama makes No Hair suspicious. When the elderly woman disappears, Davis heads for Alabama, where she becomes involved in a scandal at the woman's church. The reappearance of Davis's ex-husband causes even more stress. Credible characters and plenty of Gulf Coast local color help make this a winner, though readers should be prepared for frequent, albeit amusing, detours from the mystery. (Jan.)

Loved it! Double Dip is hilarious, action-packed, with a touch of home-sweet-home and a ton of glitz and glam. I’m booking my next vacation at the Bellissimo. Gretchen Archer and Davis Way have a fan in me for life. I'm totally hooked on this series.

Take a gamble and try this book and series. You will laugh out loud. Gretchen Archer had me smiling from the first page to the last. I am not a gambler, but that certainly didn't diminish my enjoyment of this book.

Loving reading the Books in this series but where is "Double Strike"? I can't get it on my Nook which is quite irritating .

From about page 193 to end were the same 3 pages over and over and over. Never found out if they found Bea and got her out of the home and if Davis and Bradley were done. It was a good story up til then.

A fun mystery about working security in a casino. It's well-written and well-edited. It's the second book I've read in the series and I hope to enjoy reading more.

This is a hoot! I read the previous book and loved it and this one is no disappointment. Funny. Clever. People you want to be successful. The idea that she changes character and clothes in the blink of an eye and still keeps track (mostly) of what she's up to is amazing. Believable? Of course not. But who cares when you're having this much fun?!

Gretchen Archer has quickly become one of my favorite authors with this Double series. She is clever, witty, and not afraid to just put it all out there. Start with Double Whammy - savor it, take in the bold and the subtle. You'll be back.

A funny and fun romp through the security center of an Mississippi Casino, Double Dip follows the (mis)adventures of Davis Way as she tracks down the scheming scalawags that are hauling the older and richer gamblers away to an somewhat unscrupulous senior living center. With the occasional murder and the missing boy friend, Gretchen Archer held this reader's attention - to which he kept returning until the final page was read last night. And, as Gretchen Archer writes, someone did leave the Slot Machine “Tournament with a great big rock.” To find out who, you will need to read, and laugh, your way through Double Dip.

Gretchen Archer again proves her talents for serpentine, fast-paced adventures with Double Dip, the second Davis Way caper. As in Double Whammy, Davis Way is still working at the Bellissimo Casino as body double for the casino owner's wife, Bianca (who makes Cruella DeVille look like Mary Poppins), and as secret casino security agent, tasked with hunting out fraud and vice within the casino. Davis is also still besotted with her lawyer love Bradley Cole, although the honeymoon period has waned and they seem to be heading for a rough patch. However, Davis has no time for fixing things with Bradley Cole (who is just as busy) because the story immediately dives into Bianca troubles, a missing person, and a casino caper which quickly jackknifes into a bigger-than-casino mystery. Twists and turns abound. So do broken hearts. I'm a huge fan of Archer's humor. Love the snappy pops and cracks to Davis's thoughts and dialogue. You are forced to pay attention in these stories, no drifting along, because words are not wasted when Archer's writing. I continue to compare her to Carl Hiaasen, of whom I'm also a fan. However, Archer's first person point-of-view makes her struggles more real. I loved the romance problems between Davis and Bradley Cole that continued to pile up in the story. I love that Davis will not just wear her heart on her sleeve, she'll tattoo it on her arm for Bradley Cole.

272 PAGES YOU'LL WANT TO READ AS FAST AS YOU CAN! Davis Way, Secret Weapon of the fabulous Bellissimo Casino, is back in action making Double Dip another delightful read! Once again Archer has managed to fill Double Dip with a great storyline that will keep you on your toes as you follow along with Davis' romance with Bradley Cole, her situation with her ex-husband, her coworkers Fantasy & No Hair, her boss, being the body double for her boss' very unpleasant wife, her family back in Pine Apple, AL, and trying to solve the disappearance of a very important little old lady. Just what part does the So Help Me God Pentecostal Church in Beehive, AL play in the disappearance? As always, Davis is one busy girl! Davis and company are all believable characters. We probably all know someone that reminds us of EVERY character in Double Dip whether we want to admit it or not. Another masterful story by Gretchen Archer. You will be thoroughly entertained from start to f

I actually would give it a 4 1/2 star. If you want non-stop, this book has it. Davis is pulled in so many different directions, between her love life struggling, a scam, a shooting, being a body double, and family things keep moving along. Davis is an interesting complex character, while struggling with things like her ex-ex husband (and I started finding him constantly popping up annoying, the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, a little overmuch for me) and being sort of clueless with some things she shows absolute brilliance in finding scammers, hacking and searching for clues in general. I had many moments of laughing out loud, especially with Davis' thoughts to herself. I love her granny, and her relationship with her co-workers. The mysteries, have plenty of twists and turns, and there is more than one mystery going on. A very fun read. *I won a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion of it.

Title: Double Way - Davis Way Crime Caper Book 2 Author: Gretchen Archer Published: 1-28-14 Publisher: Henery Press Pages: 260 Genre: Women's Fiction Sub Genre: Mystery & Thrillers, Women Sleuths, Cozy ISBN: 9781938393946 ASIN: B00I1OJQTI Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley Davis is run ragged with at the Bellissimo Resort and Casino. The Casino is hosting a Slot Tournament. As part of Bellissimo's security Davis looks for Bianca's missing assistant, then there is the little old lady who wins a bit more often than is natural at the slots and a dead body. Davis also must stand in for Bianca whom she looks exactly like at any social engagement Bianca doesn't want to be bothered with, which is just about all of them. Add in Grandma Dee's visit and ex-hubby Eddie putting up stumbling blocks in Davis' relationship with Bradley is it any wonder that Davis is feeling under the weather? Or could there be some other biological reason? Of course there is always the So Help Me God Pentecostal Church in Beehive, Alabama which has some really quirky residents. I have to smile every time I read the church's name. Gretchen Archer's Dais Way novels are guaranteed to make you laugh when you read one. Double Dip is no exception With its fast paced story line you will be held spellbound until you turn the last page. The amazing well developed characters soon become like old friends you will want to visit with often. Ms. Archer has provided enough background material so that each book in the series can be read as a standalone easily. How cool would it be to meet your doppelganger and be able to actually take her place from time to time and even get paid to do it. If you haven't read book 1 yet, plan on it because you will be hooked on this series soon. This series will lighten the mood of the gloomiest of souls.
