“You said you broke up with him,” Rick says, glaring down at me.
“I lied,” I say in a small voice, burying my face in the back of the couch. I peek out at David. He is staring with shock at Rick.
“Aren’t you like, her dad?” David asks, stunned.
“STEPdad,” Rick says, clarifying. He sounds angry. He glances down at me again. “It looks like you have some explaining to do, Olivia,” he says.
