“Double Threats Forever” by Julie Prestsater 5 out of 5 stars It’s senior year for the Double Threat Crew and that means college applications, hard decisions, and the possibility of saying goodbye. After a year of trying to meet new people our girls have realized that there are no better friends, and in some cases boyfriends, than the ones they already had. The one exception to the rule is new student Andi. She’s a welcome addition to the group and brings with her a bit of comedic styling that you didn’t even realize they were missing. She has a naive goofiness that quickly endears her to the group and to the reader. Meg and Alex, together unofficially, are the heart of this book. Having made the decision to not be an official couple until graduation, their senior year is one big waiting game. I loved how Alex doesn’t pressure her to follow him to his college, instead he encourages her to find her own dreams and pursue them. Their relationship could be a blueprint for how it should really be done. It’s refreshing to see a young couple not consumed by sex, waiting until they are both completely ready, that truly want the best for each other. After four years of watching them build their relationship I am rooting for their happily ever after. I missed Ben in this book although I loved seeing glimpses of him through the groups’ video confessionals. There is a hilarious bit with “flat Ben” in the latter part of the book that I won’t ruin for those who haven’t read the book but it is genius. Prestsater doesn’t let me down with this last installment in the series. It’s still as entertaining and fresh as the first book and I couldn’t put it down. She truly writes for her readers and thanks us for sticking with her by writing an epilogue that is every reader’s dream. Set twenty years in the future we get a glimpse into the lives of all of the Double Threat Crew and the pay off is awesome! The only thing that would make this series better would be for it to land on my television. This series is a perfect fit for primetime. I can only imagine how much more invested I would be in them if I were watching them weekly on my TV screen. Prestsater has written all four books perfectly to set them up as a television show. Calling all young adult networks…The CW Network, ABC Family, and any others looking for a great new show…don’t pass on this one! Let’s make it happen! Read this series! Julie Prestsater has conquered high school with a 4.0! Don’t miss out on this awesome story! *I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.* Shannon
This series must be one of the most beautiful I read, its about innocence, romance, lifetime friendship and the ending was beautiful...I wished the story was not over but to read Alex and Meg life through their daughter eyes...wow. Julie, you are an amazing writer!!!!!
I loved this book, especially the way she wrote honestly about the experiences of teenagers in high school. The ups, downs, tears, laughter, it was all so fun to read and just as dramatic as really life. I'm sure there are many high school girls who wish they could find their Alex or Jon Jon in high school and live happily ever after. I don't know many Alex's out there, but it was a fun read nevertheless.
I really enjoyed reading this book more than once!! I would love to read about the crew's college experience!!!!
One of the best series I've read in a long time! It's so real, it will make you laugh and cry at times. IT IS WORTH IT!!!!
So sad this series is over! I have loved it from start to finish. I loved following the Double Threats crew has the navigated the waters of high school (and in some cases beyond). It was great to see the characters grow over the series. Loved the added bonus of seeing the Crew in the future. Julie Prestsater did an amazing job and I can't wait to see what she has for us next!
