Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Cheryl Williams Chang
Henry has double the trouble in his life right now. He wants to win the doubles tennis trophy; however, his tennis partner, Rocky, could jeopardize their success. Henry is a very good player, but Rocky's backhand is awful. They lost their last two tennis matches as a result of Rocky's errors. Will they continue to lose? Is winning even possible? Should he change partners? Henry is also having trouble with his classmate, Jazz. They have been assigned to work on a history project together, but Henry finds it difficult to focus because he would rather be playing tennis. Jazz is an excellent student. Henry hopes that by working with her on the history project he will be able to bring up his history grade. Something goes wrong, though, and Henry sees Rocky's situation differently. Can he correct what he has done wrong? Will Jazz forgive him? Will Rocky forgive him? This chapter book is smalland compact and will easily fit into a backpack or small bag. The illustrations are comical and entertaining to look at. It is written with simple text and is a quick read. This story will make a nice addition in any children's library.
