Just as all of his books seem to be, The Doubtful Guest is a clever yet melancholy story. Although the plotline is simple, this is the funniest book I have read in a while. That doesn't say much about us college students...

This is classic Gorey and I bought it along with Categorey to give to my nieces for their birthday. Such a funny, wacky, charming book! I highly recommend it to children of all ages. My only beef is that Pomegranate (current publisher) has made this edition so tiny! It really should be bigger, but the size has no reflection on the content.
