I am a high school student who read this book as part of a school English curriculum. I found the topic okay, and the aboriginal issues were well done, but I thought the writing style James Maloney used was too simple and not very enjoyable. Probably this was deliberate, as the book was supposed to be written by poorly-educated Dougy himself, but I didn't like it.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. 'Dougy' is an interesting book full of important issues concerning Australia's Indigenous people. It is particularly relevant now in light of the impending Olympic Games. There are many characters in the story who are likeable and real. I think the downside of this book is the overdone description of 'the mini-war' which takes place - at this point the book becomes a little unreal. Was this review helpful?
