This CD is one of the more neglected Clarence White era Byrds albums. I actually think it is a better listen than Sweetheart of the Rodeo. That project with Gram Parsons was a a pure country effort, whereas this set has a real rock feel to it, somewhat in the vein of the first Burrito albums with Parsons and Chris Hillman. The White - McGuinn guitar interplay is excellent and This Wheel on Fire is a great Dylan cover. Later albums suffered when band members other than McGuinn sang lead but here he is the sole frontman. At this price you can't lose if you take a chance on Dr. Byrds and Mr Hyde. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
