Bergen, Jr., M.D., President, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Dr. D's Handbook for Men Over 40 is a practical, down-to-earth plan that will show you how to continue to lead an exciting life and maintain a positive attitude as you grow older. With solid information and clear advice to help you stay strong, energetic, and confident, your best years are yet to come. This lighthearted yet reassuring book will help you overcome the fear of growing older, adjust to the physiological and neurological changes that occur at midlife, maintain or regain fitness through exercise and proper nutrition, build healthy relationships, and more. Plus, it includes real-life stories about men whose healthy habits in later years have added to their lives--and how they do it.

"...discusses the common fears of aging in addition to its physical and emotional changes...takes an optomistic approach, revealing how to age gracefully through nutrition, exercise, and healthy mentality."

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
According to comedian Bob Hope, you've reached middle age when your age begins to show around your middle. Minnesota-based Dorsen suggests that middle age is a slippery slope where men are often caught between their aging parents on the one hand and the acting-out of their own adolescents on the other, "with the siren song of a midlife crisis on the horizon." However, his advice on the physical and psychological changes that the over-40 male experiences is often lost in flat humor meant to be "old chum" but often sounding patronizing. There is definitely a market for a health adviser addressing the aging male, but choosing one is a personal matter, and readers will do better with the style, delivery, and content of Harvey Simon's Staying Well (LJ 8/92).James Swanton, Harlem Hosp.
