Dr. Feelgood [Hip-O Bonus Tracks]

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Alex Henderson
Mötley Crüe's albums were a lot like episodes of Married with Children in the sense that they may not be great works of art but can be darn entertaining. With Bob Rock serving as producer, the L.A. headbangers savor the joys of trashy, unapologetically decadent fun on Dr. Feelgood -- an album that makes no pretense at being anything else. While nothing here is quite as commanding as "Shout at the Devil," "Wild Side," or "Live Wire," such hook-oriented MTV smashes as "Kickstart My Heart," the amusing "Don't Go Away Mad Just Go Away," and the title song are infectious and hard to resist, and helped make this the best-selling Mötley Crüe album ever, as well as providing ...

Unfortunately, the album would be lead singer Vince Neil's last album with the band. Neil's departure -- and pop-metal's decline in popularity in the mid-'90s -- proved to be severe blows to Mötley Crüe. [In 2003, the Crüe remastered and reissued Dr. Feelgood on their own Motley/Hip-O label. They retained the bonus tracks from the 1999 reissue on Motley/Beyond demos for "Dr. Feelgood," "Without You," and "Kickstart My Heart" and the previously unreleased "Get It for Free" and added the demo of "Time for Change" and the video of "Kickstart My Heart."]

excellect album, but extra tracks are a let down

This was one of my core albums back in the late '80's. And it is fun listening to the album again. Hits like Dr. Feelgood and Without you sound great, but the demo tracks added to the album are very weak, I have heard garage bands with better sounding demo's. I get it for free is just okay and is easy to see why it didn't make it on the album the first time. All and all the album is fun and enjoyable to listen to and brings back many a memory.

    Probably the best

I loved this album! This is my favorite Crue album and possibly my favorite rock album. Dr. Feelgood has some awesome songs such as: Sticky Sweet, Rattlesnake Shake, Kickstart my Heart, She goes down and of course, the Ultimate title track, Dr. Feelgood. This is Possibly one of the best Albums I've bought.

    80's finest

This album solidified Motley Crue's place in 80's history. With Tommy's huge drum sound and Mick Mars' loud guitars, there is no finer 80's pop metal band. All their greatest songs are here: Dr.Feelgood, Kickstart my Heart and S.O.S. The CD also includes bonus demo material and live versions. This is the copy to get, not the older version.

    The Cream of Motley Crue

Now Motley Crue put out a lot of great albums, but Dr. Feelgood was by far their best effort. First of all the songs are classics. With "Sticky Sweet", "Kickstart My Heart", and of course the title track "Dr. Feelgood," it just does great much more memorable than that. Secondly, the production quality is utterly amazing. Bob Rock and the Crue really knew what they were doing with this album. Tommy and Nikki never worked so well together, and if anyone ever had any doubts about Mick's guitar playing, all they would have to do is listen to this album. He just proves he is up with the best of them. This CD is just great, and all of the extras is just a Crue fan's dream come true. I recommend this to anyone that calls themselves a fan of Motley Crue. You won't be disappointed.
