Reading Indie Authors is like digging through a pile of plain rocks and finding the occasional golden nugget. Author Edie Ramer is golden. Her latest release, "Dragon Blues", begins a series of paranormal romantic suspense. Noah is the Dragon/Man simply trying to live an immortal life in peace and quiet. His closest companions are his cat and his saxophone. Lila is a modern woman with an abused past who's learned to aggressively take care of herself. Ramer weaves a tight plot to bring these two together with enough peril to keep it interesting. The core of the piece is true romance-two wounded beings who find completion in each other. For me, the best part of "Dragon Blues" is the writing style. It's sharp, swift and clean. Ramer artfully uses a lot of fragment sentences that bring a crisp rhythm to the manuscript, almost as if she listened to various musical pieces as she tapped out the story on the keyboard. It will be interesting to see how her Dragon myths unfold. And, oh yeah, the love scenes are smoking. But what else would you expect from a fire-breathing Dragon Man?

I love how Edie puts a modern-day twist on a medieval tale against the backdrop of a soulful Nashville. Noah and Lila are tortured, interesting characters by themselves, but the romance makes them sizzle off the pages. This wonderful author dives into the emotions of her characters, exploring every spectrum of their being. Also, she *knows* how to make an unforgettable villian. Trust me, you'll remember this monster long after the story has ended. If you're looking for an entertaining, believable read, definitely pick this up.

I simply love the way Ramer writes and the heart she brings to her stories. The beautifully crafted characters, the musical connections and the thought-provoking themes, such as those of redemption, rebirth and change, make this story memorable and hard to put down. Another wonderful read by this talented author!
