    Engaging

It took a few minutes to accustom myself to Ms. Whittington's writing style and the speech patters given to the characters, but that was easily accomplished. I do not usually care for big battle scenes, gore and unresolved mysteries, but in this book they are essential to the progression of the series. This is a no holds barred tale of terror, self sacrifice and small hopes bringing the cooperation of two very different species in a struggle to ensure the survival of both. I do intend to look for the other books in this series.
