After experiencing his human form, she’s thrilled. But when she realizes she can’t fall in love with him or he’ll lose his immortal status, she’s in hell.
If only the entire Otherworld wasn’t in pursuit of Charity.
If only the First Dragon wasn’t so irresistible.
If only she didn’t have to break her heart in order to save his.
…you must deal with the fire.

It was great getting a glimpse into the secret life of the head dragon! Very cute story and hilarious seeing some of the othet charachters from his point of view!
I loved this! I admit that I've been picturing the First Dragon as like an Anthony Hopkins type, but I can't anymore. I'm sure he can change his shape as needed, but I think he'll keep the one he has right now. So a quick review, the First Dragon has shown up to meet his latest descendant, and while he's there, he's cornered by the wyverns' mates. They think he's lonely, and because they want him to be happy (and be distracted enough to leave them alone), they decide to play matchmaker with him. He's going to stick around instead of disappearing, and they are going to try to find somebody for him to fall for, even though he's pretty sure he's still hung up on Baltic's mother. If you don't know what I'm talking about, read the other dragon books that Katie MacAlister has written! They're my favorites. :) I really enjoyed this insight into the First Dragon's character. He's got a soft side, and he's really not so mysterious after all. He sounds pretty special to me, and he's protective, like any dragon, but not controlling, like Drake is. I really like Charity's character, too. She's not weak or helpless, but she doesn't exactly fit into the heroine mold either, so I really enjoyed that stray from the archetype. There were some appearances from other favorites in the dragon series, Aisling, May, Jim, etc., but they weren't all there. It wasn't as dramatic as some of the series, but then, it's a novella, so there wasn't a lot of room for high drama. There was tons of humor, though! I thoroughly enjoyed the comedy. That's what keeps me reading. There's such an excellent sense of the ridiculous! I'm hoping there's more to come for the dragons. I can't wait to see the First Dragon take a more central role instead of coming through the shadows to kind of guide and mainly frustrate the rest of dragonkin. The sarcastic commentary from Baltic when the First Dragon shows up is some of the best dialog there is! I would happily read an entire book on Baltic's inner monologue from times when the First Dragon pops up, not that he keeps it silent. Give it a read!
I love Katie's dragons! This book was very enjoyable and full of lots of characters from her previous dragon books. I’ve always wondered about the First Dragon and I can honestly say he is a yummy dragon. Agreeing to live with and be like his children and mates in the real world had some very funny scenes. Thieves trying to steal from dragons, a siren that sings so no one knows what is going on. I wish the novella could have been a full novel but it is great to see the First Dragon be as happy as his children and their mates, it’s also wonderful to see the interactions with his children and mates and why they are special to him. I hope a second story will come out of this maybe a crossover to the First Dragon realm. It truly is a great read. This is another wonderful book dragon by Katie!!
