Overview

The War of the Lance is long over. The seasons come and go as the pendulum of the world swings. Now it is summer, a hot parched summer such as no one on Krynn has ever known. And an uneasy balance light and dark begins to shift.

Distraught by a grievous loss, the young mage Palin Majere seeks to enter the Abyss in search of his lost uncle, the infamous archmage Raistlin.

Elsewhere, the Dark Queen has found new champions. Devoted followers, loyal to the death, the Knights of Takhisis follow the her vision to victory. And a dark paladin, Steel Brightblade, rides to attack the High Clerist’s Tower, the fortress his father died defending.

And on a small Island, the mysterious Irda capture an ancient artifact and use it to ensure their own safety. Usha, the child of the Irda, arrives in Palanthas claiming that she is Raistlin’s daughter.

The summer will be deadly. But for whom, only the swing of the pendulum will tell.

    A spectacular finale

Tanis and the gang continue on their adventures, adding a few new characters with Steel and Palin. The Irda begin to start tampering with a small egg-like item. Completely unaware what is hidden inside the grey-stone, they unleash a power so great even the enhanced magic of the Irda can't withstand it. Chaos, now released from his prison, begins to wreak havoc on Krynn. Tanis and his friends must now fight for the very survival of their world. Tas comes out in one of the major roles, while most of the other main characters sorta sank into the background, allowing new characters to emmerge and really shine forth. This book is an exciting finale to the Chronicles Epic. I give this book an A+. A stimulating read.

    Very good book

First i would like to say that the gentleman who said it never answered the question of raistlin's daughter never read it through. it answers the question with the meeting of raistlin and usha. He tells her of her parents. how they were found by the irda, and they accidentaly killed her father. The mother drowned herself in the sea. Her mother had the golden eyes.

English class for Dragons of Summer Flame

The book Dragons of Summer Flame was a strange book at first when I started to read it. All through the rest of the book it kept strange but it was still good. I liked it because it kept you on edge and I hope you will take the time to read my thoughts on it. This was a very interesting book. It is exceptionally written and an exciting story. The book is Fantasy type book but is very serious and well-developed story line. The characters have depth to them that make them very likable and you just hate the bad guys. The story is based upon the gods of Krynn and the mortals that live there. That is the first reason I liked it. The plot is great too. The father Chaos resumes his rampage and the heroes must stop him. Battles, romance and running away are all in this book. The story starts out just like any story that is fantasy I feel. That is all that is similar to most fantasy stories. It takes you on a roller coaster ride after that. Palin, Brightblade and Caramon are a few really good characters in the book. The way the wrote it made me want to know what these characters were going to do next. This is second reason I liked this book. These are the reasons I liked this book. It was witty, well written and fun to read. It made the time pass away and let the imagination run. I hope you will pick it up some time to read it. It was great fun for me and will be for you too.

    I Also Recommend:

interesting enough... But not really spectacularly suspenseful

    interesting enough...
But not really spectacularly suspenseful until the end. It doesn't hold a five-star place among the other Chronicles or the Twins Trilogy; but engaging nonetheless; especially if you want to read how some of the Companions deaths occur.

    DAGONLANCE

In the third book i thought Tanis Caroman the barbarians and Tika died in the malestrom. Other than that the firt three are phenominal and i would like to read the fourth one. The biggest turn off though is that when u first meet Kitiara as a main character she is a dragon high lord serving under the darkness of the queen of Evil. Th best part is when paladine takes flint through space to his "rest". I really got excited when the good dragons came out to fight the Evil dragons and beat them. All in the first three are a must read. I'll come back with a review on the fourth one later. Bye!!!!

    NOT up to Dragonlance standards

I struggled with this entire book. It felt like a goofy plot, terrible ending, and young Brightblade made me want to punch him in the nose most of the book. It just felt forced. Unless you're desperate for some Dragonlance - I'd leave this one alone

    RESPOND PLEASE

I thin usha is raistlins daughter because in the second generation in the part called raistlins daughtet Ambdryel ( i may have misspelled her name ) the irada ha silver hair an so does usha and usha also has golden eyes like raistlin also the protecter mentiond a sister he had lost in his message to dalamar and splovhed out whatever he wrote about her and at the end of raistlins daughter when ambdryel died there were two men who came for her and one of them mentioned that she was his sister and i think that this was the protecter and that his sister and ambdryel are one and the same person and is ushas mother and that when raistlin told usha about her human parents that he lied to her for whatever reason ( that said reason being open for interpritation ) please respond to this comment i would like to hear your opinions on this

    First fantasy read

I first read this book when i was about 11 years old. It is the exact book which got me hooked on fantasy and the dragonlance series. I read it again about a year ago so i cant remember too much but i know that when action starts happening, it doesnt stop and all of a sudden youre at the end saying wow. I love this book and it holds a special place in my heart.

    Do not read this book

Where everything officially goes wrong. I loved the first two series by hickman and weis. Unfortunately this is where the world of Krynn takes a turn for the worst. I just finished the war of souls trilogy and was so disappointed that I felt it was neccessary to let other fans to stop before its too late. This book is not horrible, but it is not worth your time. Think of it this way TAS WILL BECOME AN ANNOYANCE AND THE GODS WILL NO LONGER MAKE YOUR SPINE TINGLE WHEN YOU READ ABOUT THEM. The magic is gone for me lets hope the same doesnt happen for you. As always the authors get a little long winded, but here there is no reward

    DRAGONLANCE IS THE BEST!!!

This book was my fourth favorite Dragonlance book, only beaten by The Soulforge, Brothers in Arms, and The Clandestine Circle. Palin is so awsome! ^_^ I just love his whole personality and everything about him! Sure, he can drive you up a wall sometimes, but really, what character doesn't? Usha is a well thought out person, but her personality makes me want to strangle her! Still, it's just me. I can't stand characters that DO nothing. I love the reapperence of Tas and Raistlin. I don't want to give the plot away, though...
