Great story but don't buy this 3-book edition.

I bought and read Dragonflight and was hooked on the series, so thought I would buy this 3-book edition for the next 2 books in the series. There are so many typos in the Nook edition of this book, that the story is almost unreadable. Lines are missing from the bottom of many pages, so when you turn the page, you feel lost as though you missed something. I flip back and forth trying to figure out if I missed a page and then realize that half a sentence is missing. I can't help but wonder if more than a line is missing here and there.
Great series. Great books. But I wouldn't buy this one for the Nook again.

If You Get One McCaffrey Book Let It Be This One

Here in one volume are the first three novels--in my opinion the best three--in her Pern series. These books often wind up on best fantasy lists, thought technically they're science fiction about a lost colony of Earth where the native dragons and bonded to human riders who imprint them at hatching to fight an inimical spore that comes from space. The characters are memorable and appealing: Lessa, F'nor, F'Lar, Brekke, Jaxom, Robinton--and that includes the dragons like "The White Dragon" Ruth. These three books aren't notable for style and provoking thought, but they're fine, entertaining novels that bear rereading--science fantasy comfort food. I don't feel the later books are as winning, but these three come to a satisfying resolution.

    A classic must read

I first read the books here around 20 years ago, and had forgotten how much I loved them until I bought this compilation on e-book recently. Nicely written and hard to put down. I'm just glad that I picked it up again after so long.

    typos distracting

Anne McCaffrey is one of my favorite authors and I return to her characters often as if to visit old friends. Despite the typos on nearly every page, I thoroughly enjoyed this latest visit with Pern.

excellent writer, poor author (at least for this trilogy)

the characters in the book are well written and believable. though the story is kinda hard to get into. the idea of fighting things without sentience really doesn't work for me. what got me through the first two books in the trilogy was the authors writing ability and interplay between the characters.

    Warning: Pern is Highly Addictive!

This book is what started it all for me many years ago, and I still lust for more Pern! McCafferty has a way of writing that draws you in and makes you feel like you're a part of this incredible planet. You'll learn to fear the scores (burns) of thread and wonder at the history of the planet...which is deliciously and masterfully explained in later volumes. You'll come to love the dragons as your own and practically be elated when your favorite character is chosen by a newly-born dragonet on the hatching grounds. I know you'll enjoy this series...so what are you waiting for!?!?!

    from codestriker on roblox.com

I really like this book. It is veery long so i wont brush past it when i read. I like that it has dragons. I love dragons. I lov that they are huge, breath fire, have wings so they can fly, and last but not least my most favourite trait that they posses: they have tallons on every single foot and hand. They have scales,so they are basicly indesteuctable to most any medival wepons.

I do not belive that deagons are evil. I belive that they ar more gentle, loyal creatures. Purest o heart, as some of ye folk would say.

    Great book

I love the series and have reread the series 3 times since i was a kid,and bought it for the nook so my family could read it too. There is the occasional typo but nothing that distracts from the reading experience. My only complaint is the the book is not lendable.

The BEST opening into an exciting trip for your imagination

This is one of my favorite books. In the past I have literally read the covers of two hardback copies. After our home was flooded I bought a NOOK to replace my library in a portable way and this was the first book I purchased. LOVE this book and I am thrilled to have it on my NOOK.

    Extremely entertaining and imaginative!

I read this trilogy many years ago and have enjoyed reading it again, as much as I did the first time. Anne manages to creates a highly functional world that mingles science fiction and fantasy. It is a great read and will keep you engrossed from the first to the last page!

Highly Recommended, too bad related Harper's Hall series isn't available on the Nook.

Started reading the Dragonriders of Pern and the Harper's Hall series over 20 years ago, and I still find them fascinating and refreshing reads. Anne McCaffery's writing stands the test of time...

    Annoying!

Get ready to break out your dictionary! It was to the point of ridiculousness. Im an avid reader and this book just gave me a headache. I strongly suggest you read the sample before you buy. For me this was a total waste of money.
